Importance of Managing Your Monthly Budget

September 12, 2009

Managing my family budget can sometimes be really troublesome, but not managing it can put me into financial debt before I realize it. The gains from taking care of my budget correctly helps me save money and relieve some tension I have pertaining to my debt.

I have many things in life that shape me financially, but there is probably nothing that affects my finances more than a household budget. There are not a lot of people these days who have learned how to budget and this can lead to many financial troubles, including debt. One main reason why so many of us do not create a budget is because we think it is just too complex. But in actuality, producing a budget is not difficult at all; it can be as easy as penning down what we spend and keeping up with it every month. By practising this habit, we do not spend more than we have.

It is essential for me to keep in mind that my budget is only my programme for my monthly expenditure. Just like any program, my budget does necessitate me to supervise it to keep it running correctly. The first step in devising my budget is preparing the information that I need in it. I keep track of expenses like car payments, utilities, car insurance policy, living expenses, etc. If I do not organize my budget, I can easy find myself in debt. It is essential for me to know exactly what I need on expenditures each month.

I see two advantages with keeping an eye on with my finances through my budget. Firstly, it eliminates unnecessary spending. Secondly, I can keep myself from going into unnecessary debt. When I spend my money wisely, I buy only things that are necessary and I free up money that I can use on something that I want or can save it. With the surplus cash I am able to save, I have the option of putting it aside and investing.

How to Write the Most Effective Cv

July 11, 2009

A curriculum vitae presents the applicant to the prospective employer. It gives the first impression on the prospective employer on the job applicant’s skills, qualification, certifications and work experience. So, a quality well-written and well-organised CV may help secure an interview with the prospective employer.

While writing a CV, the focus must be on the requirements of the corporation and your capableness to fit in the job at offer. The resume should be composed by combining the candidate’s skill sets and experience with the demands of the corporation. It is composing about how you can meet the demands of the certain position in the company.

There are some delusions on resume writing that requires clearing up. Trying to stand out among the crowd by making the resume prominent will not serve the purpose. The CV should not be something unusual, unique or tricky. However, if the facts are organized in a professional style, providing details relevant to the job requirements, it will definitely impress the recruiter to call the job applicant for an initial interview.

The all-important objective of a CV is to introduce the job applicant and present the skill sets, qualification, experience and credentials of the individual so that the HR manager is impressed enough to call him/her for a face-to-face interview. The curriculum vitae should only comprise information, which is relevant to company’s requirements. This may include the experience of the applicant, which is beneficial for the job position. Avoid composing a long description of your previous job experiences.

A good, well-organised curriculum vitae is the key to opening the correct doors to the perfect chance in the job seeking process.

Finding the Right Coach

June 14, 2008

Who is the Best Coach For Achieving Your Goals?

A friend of mine was recently at a Mark Victor Hansen and Robert Allen workshop. They were promoting their Enlightened Millionaire Program. One of the topics he told me they covered was looking for a personal coach.

So let’s think of a few subjects where there could be personal coaches.

Basketball
Golf
Football
Talk show
Weightlifting
Confidence
Money
Sex
Real Estate Investor

Now what I found interesting was what my friend said everybody answered for some of the above. They thought the best basketball coach would be Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods for Golf , Joe Montana for football, Weightlifting a lot would like Arnold Schwarzenegger to be their personal trainer, on confidence Anthony Robbins of NLP fame was picked, Money a lot said they would like Donald Trump or Bill Gates, Sex and they would answer Ron Jeremy, Real Estate a lot answered Robert Kiyosaki of the Rich Dad Poor Dad fame.

The logic here might seem great. If you wish to be good at a particular skill than find somebody heavily well known as being great at that talent or skill. Sometimes though that is not exactly the case.

My friend went on about how he then thought of the Green Bay Packers as they had won two superbowls. The unexpected had happened their beloved coach Vince Lombardi decided that coaching the Green Bay Packers was no longer what he wanted to do. The Green Bay Packers actually tested two coaches and they tried the above after the two other coaches failed. The Packers took up Bart Starr their successful quarterback as their new coach. He is a great quarterback but didn’t do as well as a coach.

A lot of people do not realize playing skills and coaching skills are two different mediums. Vince Lombardi was never a great football player but is an incredible coach.

If I wanted a Real Estate Investing coach a lot of people would pick Robert Kiyosaki. Well who were his mentors? Where did he learn about houses and real estate? Was he self taught? Or did he learn from somebody else. It turns out Robert Kiyosaki learned a lot from John Burley about Real Estate investing. John Burley also teaches and coaches others and a lot of his students have success.

Michael Jordan the famous basketball player has actually also been a coach. Look at the results of him coaching basketball teams. He is one of the most incredible basketball players but his coaching skills are not even close to his playing skills.

The Wizards the Washington team he coach have floundered under Jordan’s leadership. They were 110-179 after Jordan began calling the shots and had left the team. Not exactly top performance. The Wizards soon gave him the boot as a coach.

Now let us take the famous Tiger Woods. He turned heads when he started winning so much at golf. Than one day he decided to fire Butch Harmon. Tiger Woods has not won a major tournament since the 2002 U.S. Open. That was the same year he stopped having Butch Harmon as his coach. “Tiger Woods is not playing well, he is not working on the right things in his golf swing although obviously Tiger thinks he is,” Harmon told a reporter for a media writer at Sky Sports. Woods received a two-over-par 72 in his first round at the U.S. Open. Woods is not the same golfer who won 7-of-11 majors beginning with the 1999 PGA Championship, and he’s quick to admit it. How much credit do you think Butch Harmon deserves here? Some top coaches are saying they see problems in his swing and think that because Tiger doesn’t have Butch around is a big reason for it.

So remember when you are looking for a coach. The best thing to look at is the results of the students. Who has the top students? That is who your coach should be.

Robert Torrey is a personal development relationship instructor and a coach. He does workshops that teach men how to meet women successfully in nightclubs and everywhere else with guaranteed results. He can be reached at www.attractanddate.com

Make Up Excuses Why You Can

May 17, 2008

We all have excuses as to why we can’t do something. Ask anyone and they can give you a million excuses why it can’t be done, why they haven’t moved forward on their goals, and on and on. Making up excuses takes a lot of energy and time. So since, as humans, we seem to enjoy making up excuses, I have a great idea. Lets make up excuses why we can.

Since we all are experts in making up excuses, we won’t need much training in this area, just a shift of focus. Instead of focusing on what we can’t do, lets focus on what we can do. Instead of coming up with all kinds of excuses why it won’t work, lets focus on why it can work. Get the idea?

Instead of focusing energy on excuses that don’t serve you in moving forward, make up excuses that inspire and enthuse you to do what you want to do. Excuses like “there is no time like the present, I am old enough, I am just the person to do the job, I know all the ways it can work.” Actually, there are an unlimited number of excuses as to why you can. Be creative and think of as many as you like.

Do You Have A Life Plan

April 30, 2008

During the course of our daily lives we make plans. We make plans for dinner, for trips to the grocery store, and for cleaning our house. We also make long-term plans for our education, our finances, our businesses, and our vacations. However despite all the planning that we do very few of us actually make a life plan and this is a critical oversight as a life plan would encompass all those areas as well as our self development, personal relationships and happiness.

We all have the capacity for happiness and success in every area of our lives including our personal development, our relationships, and our professional lives but happiness and success do not just happen. We must actively seek them out and set in motion plans and actions that will make them not only possible but probable.

That is why you need a life plan, but actually creating one takes time and thought — something so many of us have little to spare. However don’t begrudge the time you could spend on a life plan because in the end that time is a very good investment that will help you save time and stress once you have your life plan fully developed. And isn’t anything that can help you achieve happiness and success a worthwhile investment of your time and energy?

Where Are You Now

Before you can begin crafting your life plan you must evaluate your current status. Reflect on the realities of your life including your commitments, finances, and dreams. What about your life makes you happy and what makes you unhappy?

Where are you now in terms of work, recreation, relationships, finances, and anything else you consider important. For example, I consider it important that my life contribute to the greater good and I have friends who consider the long-term impact of their life is an important measure.

Rate each of these areas with a letter grade with “A” of course being the highest score for the best possible life. Then calculate your overall life grade. Obviously if you have a 4.0 then your life is on track, but anything less means there are some areas you will need to work on.

It is important to identify the areas of your life that you consider successful or at least on track to success as well as the areas that you would like to improve.

Let Your Dreams Out

A big part of creating your life plan is letting yourself dream of what your ideal life would include in all the key areas you identified above (career, relationships, etc.).

Don’t worry about realities or impossibilities. Just give your heart and mind free reign to picture everything you wish your life could be in terms of relationships and family; profession and career; finances and retirement; and how you’d like to spend your time (travel, hobbies, etc.).

If money and other considerations were not a factor what would you do with your time and your life? What gets you really excited? What have you always wanted? What do you love to do (professionally or personally).

Step Back Into Reality

Note the abilities, experience and strengths you already possess that can help you live your ideal life.

Make a list of the accomplishments you are most proud of in your professional and personal life. Can any of these help you achieve your idea life?

Evaluate your work style and habits. Do you work better alone, in a group, or as a manager? What time of day is your peak performance? How many hours a day or week are you capable of working at a high level of performance?

Now Make Your Plan

Once you have created a vision of your dream life and evaluated your strengths and weaknesses then you are better able to create a plan that will help you achieve your ideal life.

Perhaps your dream is to own your business but currently you don’t have any experience with management So find a way to gain that experience through your professional work or in a volunteer capacity.

Now that you know where you want your life to go and you know how far along that path you have progressed then it is simply a matter of working toward your goal to achieve that life of happiness and success you desire.

Success Strategies- The Success Secret of Small, Simple, Adjustments

April 5, 2008

Success sometimes takes a simple, little thing, not a big one. A
small tweak, not a major change.

And one of the most powerful Success strategies is the Power of
the Small, Simple Adjustments that can make HUGE quantum leaps
in your life.

The word SMALL stands for:

“Success (is) Making Adjustments (through) Lots (of) Littles.”

Many times, we tend to look at the big things that need
adjusting, and changing. That could include personality, goals,
communication, and leadership. There is nothing wrong with that
as that is needed many times to reconstruct a Success Structure
within. And there are good reasons to do so as well. Especially
when you are leading an organization that has thousands of folks.

But leading yourself is a whole different story and requires
“Lots of Littles.” Little changes that are easy to make, and
highly effective.

Why do people take the time to do what many times is not needed
in their Success Journey?

They tend to complicate the easy changes. They have a tendency
to confuse the perfectly clear.

We waste time in our Success pursuit trying to reinvent
ourselves, when Small, Simple Adjustment would work wonders.
Small adjustments in what you think, say, and do in your Success
Journey on a daily basis.

A Small, Simple, Adjustment for your Thinking, would be to
understand that you control your thinking, or be aware that
someone else does that has influenced you. You need simply to
make a small adjustment in your perception of your thinking.

Imagine that your mind contains a DVD player, and you can put on
your DVD any movie that you want. Instead of viewing on your DVD
a weak, failure prone life and mediocre day, you need to put on
your DVD a powerful, Successful day and life, and failure is not
a possibility.

DVD stands either for “Doubling Victory Daily!”

Or DVD stands for “Discouraged Victim Daily.”

It all depends on what you want to put on your mental DVD, and
want to watch during the course of the day. A Small, Simple,
Adjustment of watching a movie of Success could mean the
difference of $100,000 a year in income.

A Small, Simple, Adjustment for your words would be to get rid
of the negative words, and any foul language. Easy to do, if you
set your minds to it. Start speaking with a positive focus and
get rid of any language that does not serve your Success.

Start speaking possibilities, not problems. Start speaking what
you are going to do, not what you don’t know what to do. Start
making a small adjustment in the action of your words, and make
sure they are forward focused, not challenge focused. Start
speaking Success into your future, not mediocrity as most people
do.

Use words like “will,” and “must”, instead of might and may.
These are the types of small, simple, adjustments that can
create a powerful communication style in everything you do.

A Small, Simple, Adjustment for your actions, would be to engage
what you are struggling to start, but baby step it. Simply break
down even the simplest task into baby steps, and engage them one
at a time with ease. We have a tendency to try and take massive
actions that many times can be overwhelming, intimidating, and
discouraging.

We believe that the Success Strategy of “Baby Stepping Success’
makes it easier to create Success in your life, and are small,
simple, and effective. It is NOT what you think of doing, or say
you are doing, but WHAT you are doing that matters, and many
times it is the small, simple adjustments in your actions that
can make a HUGE difference in your Success.

Don’t plan on working long hours, and getting bogged down in the
details of things. Take small, effective steps that will create
the outcomes you WANT, not the ones you usually take. All
Success is, and ever will be, are “action baby steps” that have
been taken, and when combined together along with their
outcomes, produces the Success you are seeking.

Success Strategies are vital, and the Success strategy of Small,
Simple, Adjustments in what you think, do, or say over a period
of time, can make a HUGE difference in your Success and Personal
Success Strategies.

You CAN Baby Step yourself into Success with this Success
Strategy!

Blessings…doug
