A Heart’s Desire: Great Expectations to Pleasantly Surprise

June 12, 2009

I’m not a spineless laid back guy, habitually occupied by watching junk tv solo every weekend. It’s unlikely you guys have never seen me ramble about great dating and relationships. Not a fan of the drama.

Helplessness is an unfortunate quality and completely missing from my playbook. But I do have a tender heart. I’ll level with you, I was forced to escape from a special relationship that meant something to me but just wasn’t meant to be. Therefore somone might go on record saying its been a while since I was dating. I don’t hold the great expectations I once did.

Single life has had its perks so far. I know one thing, I can’t lounge about, faithfully devowering Two and a Half Men reruns. The primary cause of this spell of weekend dating boredom? The people I know are settling down, and everyone else is boring.

My former football pal, Jim, who doesn’t know the meaning of dating apathy, sympathized because he is currently somewhere he can relate. He linked me to the Great Expectations Dating service. Of course, I enjoy getting to know fun singles with similar interests. Surprise, I bit the bullet and became a member.

Keep it real, there ain’t room to be disappointed about being alone when ya haven’t even put yourself into the game. As our college basketball coach Terry Jennings carried on between war stories, “You’ll never win a race you don’t run, stupid.”

The man didn’t know my name. However, the man was truly a wise sould in a round about way. He always made us laugh. The care-free Dallas matchmaking service I joined definitely would have overloaded the gipper’s noggin’.

At yesterday’s Great Expectations dating events I talked to a few accomplished and appealing singles that catch my expectations. I truthfully had a blast with a few intelligently incredible men and women. The evening ended following a sweet farewell, and as a plus, I grew some professional acquaintances for my career. Very cool.

Put yourself in the play. Can’t complain if you sit the bench. Listen to me and you might as well have great expectations for life’s sake.

Cheers!
