MiFi to be Next Generation of Wireless Broadband, Says 3

September 14, 2009

In order to ensure the success of its new mobile wireless MiFi, internet service provider 3 is launching it close to Christmas. Marc Allera, Sales and Marketing Director at 3 UK, believes the new package is the next generation of wireless broadband and will be one of the most sought after gift items this Christmas.

The project was first made public in August this year, and the company has made it clear that the product will be in the market by the middle of September and that subscribers will be able to buy it online, over the phone or in their local outlets.

In order to attract more people, the company is presenting two types of plans. ‘Ready to Go’ package gives the subscriber access to wireless mobile internet for three months and a download data limit of 3 GB for the same time at a price of 99.99 pounds. This cost is inclusive of the wireless modem. However, for those whose usage is more there is a ‘Broadband 5GB 1 month’ package, which charges 69.99 pounds for the modem and also allows a data transfer of 5 GB every month. This service is priced at 15 pounds per month.

The technology is quite useful as it allows the users to create their own wireless network, which can be shared with five peers on 3’s network. The user needs a modem, which is provided along with the package, and a SIM card provided by the company. Once the connection is established, multiple functions can be performed on all the devices. One of the best features of the service is that it does not need any software to function, making the process much simpler for the user.
